Re: JANUARY 2018 - Winter Storm/Hard Freeze Warnings

IAH officially 19F at 6:53 AM. Sea level pressure is 30.88 which apparently is the highest since January10,1962. Hobby is 20F that broke its previous record of 25F in 1965. I'm sure there will be a lengthy Public Information Statement from HGX. The official snowfall at IAH was a tenth of an inch wh...

Re: JANUARY 2018 - Winter Storm/Hard Freeze Warnings

HRRR is clearing out things pretty rapidly tonight and has temps in the Houston area reaching 18-20 degrees. As a result road conditions will further deteriorate. Good call that most schools delayed or canceled.

Re: JANUARY 2018 - Winter Storm Warning/Advisory For Tuesday

Driveway is freezing over here in the garden oaks/oak forest region. Heavy ice pellets/sleet falling. Based on radar we still have several more hours. I suspect a lot of school delays/cancelations will occur for tomorrow.

Re: JANUARY 2018 - Winter Storm Warning/Advisory For Tuesday

Besides the New Braunfels band, there's another band forming between Eagle Pass and Beeville. Also rotating east. ...and it just keeps getting colder. 25°F now in CLL. Some reporting 23°F, 24°F in town. Cypress is reporting 27°F, 30°F in downtown Houston. Overpasses and raised roads will become ice...

Re: JANUARY 2018 - Winter Storm Warning/Advisory For Tuesday

Deck is freezing over here. Roads still look good but I am worried about the next batch of showers to the west. Radar shows snow/sleet mix.

Re: JANUARY 2018 - Winter Storm Warning/Advisory For Tuesday

radar looks pretty dry W of Houston. Unless I'm missing something I don't see how precip lasts until this afternoon. The radar is very deceiving. A lot of the moisture is extremely light in nature and doesn't do it justice to ground truth. Region Wide Radar Imagery suggest the shortwave nearing San...

Re: JANUARY 2018 - Winter Storm Warning/Advisory For Tuesday

Concerned about that banding showing up over San Antonio. HRRR is starting to pick up on it and could present some problems for the region around 17-20z.
