Re: June 2017: Tracking INVEST 93L / Gulf Of Mexico Threat

Well, for what it is worth [a bit less frustration at this point] here is some of the tightest clustering we have seen thus far. Still, a long way to go before any certainty is included with the forecast. To put it simply >> hard for models of any resolution and scale to resolve challenging features...

Re: March: Slight Risk Severe Storms Friday. Nice Weekend

Time to watch 'discrete' cells developing ahead of the main line. Storm in far northwestern Harris County is strengthening and could become severe-warned before too long, IMO. Also, while not easily defined on radar, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of sea/bay breeze today - just addin...

Re: February: Will The Active Pattern Continue?

Let us not forget about the 2/1 - 2/3 time-frame, especially from a regional standpoint. First in a series of storm could bring decent rain, and a few strong storm in the warm core and significant winter weather to northern Texas in the cold core.

Edit: Oops, Srain hit it all!

Re: February: Will The Active Pattern Continue?

All, I think the moral of this story is that 'it ain't over 'til it's over'. Remember... TWO winter weather events within ONE week... in SETX? Nothing to snark at. And, actually, many did mention that P-Type would be an issue - on this forum and others. However, while widespread heavy snow did not f...

Re: January: Strong Arctic Front/Winter Storm Warning/Adviso

I know everyone is focused on the potential event that is at our doorstep, but we are near the end of January and a new month is just ahead. The teleconnection indices as well as the various Global operational and ensemble guidance is suggesting a very active early February with additional wintry p...

Re: February: Will The Active Pattern Continue?

And, as Srainhoutx mentioned, the indices, as well as various runs and ensembles of the Global models indicate hat an active pattern will continue across the inter-mountain west, southern plains, and deep south through the next couple of weeks. PNA is trending neutral and should go negative over the...

February: Clear Skies & Moderating Temps To End The Month

Here's to hoping MORE of Texas gets in on the action. Tired of sub-zero dewpoints up here in the 'frozen tundra'!

Re: January: Weekend Warmup/Strong Arctic Front Early Next W

So I have a question. Do the on air mets make their own forecast or do the take them from the national weather service? Reason I ask is if they do make their own forecast why can't on air mets issue warnings like we saw last night,if on air mets have to listen to the nws then what's the point of ha...

Re: January: Arctic Front Thursday & Winter Storm Warning

For those worried about the current 'lack' of activity west of Austin/San Antonio - reports of light icing now coming in out of Uvalde county, west of San Antonio; even under the lightest radar returns. Plenty of lift to get through, y'all.

Re: December weather -- Actual Dec weather from the North Po

Just as interesting to me (as how cold we actually get) is the duration of this cold spell. Looking at a week+ of cold air across the lower 48. Pattern just keeps wanting to re-load out west. Wouldn't be surprised if I (in Lubbock) saw a night, or two, of single digits out of this - first 'non snow-...
