Re: August 2017: Harvey/Catastrophic Flood/Recovery

Nothing against the Army Corps official at this press conference, but given all the implications and the unprecedented nature of what we're dealing with, I would feel much better to see someone much higher up from the Corps down here monitoring and informing the public about the latest with the rese...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Catastrophic Flooding/Torna

The 19Z HRRR suggest a worse case scenario for Metro Houston. If that 18 hour precipitation forecast is correct, we could see significant flooding into DT Houston. Thank you for keeping us updated srain. A couple of quick questions -- can't tell the color shaded for the western 1/2 of Harris County...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Catastrophic Flooding/Torna

I have unfortunately seen too many people crying bust already. Remember Allison took 4 days to come back for her knockout punch. Right on. Perhaps one of the pros will weigh in on the latest GFS model that according to a poster on another forum indicates 24+ inches in the Houston area between now a...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo

Ch. 2 just showed the latest American and European models of rain through Wednesday and it looked like totals for Metro Houston were significantly less than had been projected for Metro Houston in previous forecasts (closer to 10-12 inches in what they just showed). Ch. 11 just did the same thing. ...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo

I know that our Houston Officials have said to ignore the Facebook messages that are not from them. However, I just received notification for following another news stations Facebook page, and people said that Houston is on a voluntary evac right now. It was asked what station stated this, and it w...

Re: August 2017: Tracking Harvey/Coastal Impacts/Inland Floo

This GFS run is actually making me wonder I shouldn't evacuate. I wouldn't make any decision just based on one run of one model. All the while, in the spirit of being prepared and probably taking things a bit too far, I am also somewhat considering whether to buy an inflatable boat tomorrow just in...
