Re: Houston/Galveston Hurricane Workshop - Saturday June 3,

The 2017 Hurricane Workshop is approaching soon! Looks like they're calling it an "Extreme Weather Ready Expo" this year. Who wants to meet for lunch across the street at the Lake House again?

Re: April 2017 - MS 150 Forecast This Weekend

Once again, for the third year in a row, the MS 150 bike ride from Houston to Austin may be plagued by a line of heavy to severe thunderstorms. Latest GFS indicates that the line of showers/storms will impact the La Grange overnight rest stop Saturday night. The rain could be over with by the time t...

Re: Great GOES-16 Satellite Data Link

Wow! And I'm not even using a monitor with a lot of resolution! Thanks for sharing. It's amazing what else you can see with high-resolution imaging that you can't in other images. Try using the slider on the bottom with a visible image and move the slider left and right quickly. You'll notice all k...

Great GOES-16 Satellite Data Link

The College of DuPage has created a great website for viewing the new high-resolution GOES-16 satellite data:

They also have this folder for accessing individual images by region:

Re: April 2017 - will showers bring may flowers?

This year, it was January showers that brought February flowers. My azaleas bloomed in February!

Re: wxman57.com is Online!

I got rid of the cat in the left frame and replaced it with something more appropriate. I made that WorldWide Weather page in around 1997, after reading a book on HTML 4.0. It was done with notepad. This was before WYSIWYG web page editors. Needless to say, its structure & style is a bit outdate...

wxman57.com is Online!

Just a quick note to announce that I'm back online after a 2 year hiatus (at least) following Comcast's decision not to host websites. I managed to acquire the domain "wxman57.com". I have my very old and outdated site "WorldWide Weather" (from the 1990s) uploaded as a test, but ...

Re: March-2017: In Like A Lion/Out Like A Lamb?

Looks more like "in like a lamb", srain. A weak cold front may drop our temps to seasonal norms for a day or two next week before they had back to near 80 degrees. I think March will be warmer than normal, though not as much above normal as February has been (10.2F above, so far). A little...

Re: 2017 National Tropical Weather Conference April 5th-9th

Doesn't look like I'll make it down there this year, Steve. Probably won't send anyone there. It's my favorite conference, too. Not good to have Barry kick it off, though. His 20-min talk at a conference last year lasted 90 minutes, eating into the next 2 speakers. "Did I go long"?, he ask...

Re: February 2017-Super Bowl Weekend Outlook

I see nothing to indicate a major pattern reversal in February. We'll end January about 7 degrees above-normal. Superbowl weekend is looking mild and generally dry. Lows in the lower 60s, highs in the mid 70s. Doesn't get much better than that in early February.
